Your Child Smiles Hundreds of Times a Day

At Beam Orthodontics, we want to help build a smile for your child that's healthy and confident so that they're never too intimidated to show off their grin. The Canadian Association of Orthodontists and the American Association of Orthodontists recommend that a child's first visit to the orthodontist occurs as early as seven years of age.

At our Penticton and West Kelowna clinics, you won't need a dentist referral, and you won't have to pay any fees for your child's first consultation.

How Early Orthodontic Treatment Helps

While your child likely won't require treatment at an early age, some problems, if detected early, can be much easier to fix than if you wait until they're older.

Early treatment in our Penticton or West Kelowna locations may prevent or intercept these more serious problems from developing — and make treatment at a later age shorter and less complicated. In some cases, Dr. Paxon and our team can get results that may not be possible once your child's face and jaws have finished growing.

Premature loss of baby teeth

That can lead to loss of space for the permanent teeth

Delayed loss of baby teeth

That can interfere with the eruption of the permanent teeth

Mouth-breathing

That can interfere with the development of the upper jaw

Tongue posture and swallowing imbalances

That can interfere with normal dental development

Thumb, finger, or soother sucking habits

That can cause an open bite or excess overjet (bucked teeth)

Imbalances

That cause the jaw to unnaturally shift during function

Excess protrusion of the upper front teeth

That can greatly increase the risk of injury to these teeth

Under-bite

Caused by an imbalance in the growth of the upper and lower jaws

A narrow upper jaw

That can result in a cross-bite of the baby and permanent teeth

Helping Teens Discover Confident Smiles

For teens in Penticton and West Kelowna, the most common time for orthodontic treatment is during adolescence, primarily between the ages of 11 – 16.

We can structure your teen’s teeth to help them smile for who they are – and who they’ll grow into.

We want to make the teen years as smooth and fun as possible, so we offer a range of treatment options to make your teen’s smile beam. Whether they prefer braces or they’re interested in clear aligners like Invisalign®, we’ll walk you – and your teen – through all the choices to customize their smile journey!
