Imbalances in how these muscles behave — especially how your tongue rests when you aren't speaking or eating — can actually cause orthodontic shifts and breathing issues.

What is Myofunctional Therapy?

Think of it as "physical therapy" for your mouth and face. It involves a series of simple, repetitive exercises designed to retrain the muscles of the lips, tongue, and cheeks.

By correcting habits like tongue thrust or mouth breathing, we can improve how you breathe, eat, and sleep while ensuring your orthodontic treatment stays stable for a lifetime.

MARPE (Miniscrew-Assisted Rapid Palatal Expansion) is a specialized orthodontic technique used to widen the upper jaw (palate). A palatal expander is supported by temporary miniscrews placed in the palate to guide expansion.

The goal of MARPE is skeletal expansion of the upper jaw, rather than expansion driven mainly by tooth movement.

This treatment is most often considered for older teenagers and adults, when the bones of the upper jaw are more resistant to change with traditional palatal expanders.
